Brian Drummond
Brian is an avid Victoria Cross researcher, particularly regarding the 62 Royal Regiment of Artillery Victoria Cross recipients. Over the last ten years, he has been compiling his research on the life stories of all 62 recipients with the aim of having a book or series of books published on all of them.
An ex-military serviceman who served for 23 years (1977-2000) in the Royal Regiment of Artillery achieving the rank of Warrant Officer Class One (Regimental Sergeant Major). After the army and various jobs, he was employed overseas in the private security world from 2003 until 2014 and more recently on a variety of special security related jobs in the UK.
In 1997, he complied the History of 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, which was published and given to all newcomers to the regiment. In 2019, he was instrumental in confirming that Arthur Frederick Pickard VC was born in Worksop in Nottinghamshire and was therefore their first VC recipient from the town alongside Serjeant William Henry Johnson, The Bell Ringer VC. Eventually Arthur’s name was added to the Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross memorial at Victoria Embankment in Nottingham with assistance from Anthony Higton from the Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross Committee and a memorial was unveiled in Worksop to honour AF Pickard VC.
Currently living in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire with his wife, Marion, and two Yorkshire terriers. He has a stepson and two daughters with six grandchildren. Hobbies, apart from all things VC, include drawing and running.
