Damian Todd
Damian 'Obiwan' Todd started out life as a ladies hairdresser, but after a couple of years turned his hand to something a little more diverse. On 29Â May 1989, he set out to become an elite Royal Marines Commando.

As a consequence, Damian has a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of diverse cultures.
Post-service, he both lived and worked in Sweden for two years and then in Australia for almost nine years. Most of the work he delivered on during this time was for either defence contractors as a training manager/delivery expert, or in delivering his own training through his company ‘The Force Of Inspiration’. An organisation passion borne from his love to help others become better leaders and team players and from that of Star Wars. Having visited 89 countries, he has developed and delivered training programs for clients across nine nations in three languages, making him a sought-after expert in the field.
Damian is a highly respected and motivated individual, known for delivering successful programs globally. His specialties lie in inspirational leadership, management, and motivational methodologies, both in life and workplace cultures. His passion for helping others achieve their goals is truly inspiring, often demonstrated when delivering his keynote speeches.
His other passions lie within training in Brazilian Jiujitsu and in 2019, a day after his 48th birthday, Damian set a world record in Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) by grappling against 230 opponents over 24 hours, raising over $35,000 AUD for a suicide prevention charity. His other charitable endeavours have raised an additional £125,000 for organizations such as Help 4 Heroes and the Royal Marines Charity.
In his younger years, he also competed at a decent level at both Track Athletics and Bobsleigh. Damian now lives in Norwich with his wife, Kathy, and their two miniature Schnauzers, Wookiee and Padme.
Dits – The Good, The Bad, and The Unrepeatable: Real life stories from a Royal Marines Commando
Dits is a raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically real, offering an unvarnished look at life in the Corps. While many have written about military experiences, Dits stands alone. It’s not another war memoir; it's a reflection on camaraderie, hardships, cultural richness, and wisdom earned through extraordinary experiences both on and off the battlefield.
The Three Pillars of Dits:
The Good – Moments that remind us why we push forward, from victories to deep connections.
The Bad – Tales of failures, regrets, and the weight of loss.
The Unrepeatable – Outrageous, legendary stories that demand anonymity and are rarely told twice.
Through humour, reflection, and hard truths, Dits delivers a compelling narrative that challenges norms. This is not a self-help book, but every chapter offers lessons that readers can take away if they choose. Also, intertwined within these pages are a number of poems, each of which has been written to highlight some of the good, bad and ugly truths of life as a soldier. Each of which, has a varying level of emotional charge attached to them which readers have found to be quite hard hitting.Â
The author has witnessed the best and worst this world and life has to offer and, against all odds, he’s still here to tell the tale. Dits is more than a book; it’s a journey. Simply put, Dits demonstrates how those who serve can decree that they have truly lived. Get ready to experience storytelling like never before.
